Student-Led Grant Making

The Children’s Service Council of Palm Beach County (CSC) is increasing their investment in the Glades neighborhoods (Belle Glade and Pahokee) through shared leadership with the Student ACES organization. Through an RFP process, Student ACES youth, known as the Glades Student Grant-Making Association (GSGA) will award grant dollars to support initiatives designed to improve conditions leading to a healthy, youth-centered community.

GSGA has $35,000 to give with a max of $5,000 for non-profits and $2,000 for community organizations. The purpose of this Student- led Grant Making Pilot is to provide funding, promote societal healing and transformation by helping to ensure buy-in and accountability for shared goals and strategies within the Glades communities. It also becomes a method for:

-Affecting change through the power of young people,

-Fostering effective and community-determined resource allocation,

-Strengthening resident-controlled associations and local non-profits helping people with shared interests work collectively to improve their blocks, neighborhoods, or communities and be a stronger voice for change and community vitality, and

-Bolstering the relationship between Children’s Services Council (CSC) and the communities it serves.
